ZARM RED DRY WINE 2013
Varieties: Indigenous, ungrafted Sev Areni (Areni Noir).
Origin and terroir: This limited quantity red dry wine is made only on special years, from our selected Aghavnadzor vineyard plot, 1400 meters. Vineyard aspect-south. Soil-limestone and volcanic. Grapes are harvested in late autumn, before the first snow when they can no longer be kept on the vines and noble rot has set in with some clusters.
Vinification: Semi-withered grapes (brix level 28-32%) are gently crushed. Fermentation, which takes months, proceeds in two stages: first by introducing wild yeasts, then-by employing pure yeast cultures for quality red fermentation which ensure the successful fermentation finish.
Barrel Ageing: At least 2 years. During the first 4-6 months it is being aged in new, later in 1-3 years old, 225 l capacity barrels made of Armenian (Artsakh) oak wood.
Alcohol: 16.0 %
